As we explore different art techniques, you will complete 16 different sketches in your sketchbook. At each due date, 4 sketches are due. The three due dates for your class are listed below. Sketchbook Criteria ❑ Variety of sketches ❑ Interesting arrangement of items in the sketch ❑ Variety of elements of design (e.g. line, colour, texture, size, space, value, shape) ❑ Quality of sketches (time and effort must be reflected in your work) Due Dates Due Date 1: November 30th Due Date 2: February 28th Due Date 4: May 30th (only ONE sketch due, combining all acquired skills from the year- NO cartooning) Sketchbook Options: 1. Find three random items in the classroom and draw them in the same coloured sketch. (Key design elements: colour/value, size, shape) 7. Use a variety of shapes and patterns to create an abstract design (Key design elements: line, colour, texture, space) 8. Design a new label for your favourite snack. (Key design elements: line, colour, texture, size, space, value, shape) 9. Draw a classmate’s shoe. (Key design elements: line, colour, texture, size, value, shape) 10. Draw your own shoe. (Key design elements: line, colour, texture, size, value, shape) *CHOOSE 9 OR 10; NOT BOTH 11. Design a new book cover or movie poster for your favourite novel or movie.
